Quicksand is a mirey muck that seems bottomless. It devours whatever it gets in it’s midst. When you find yourself in quicksand, how do you get out? If you don’t get out you will eventually sink over your head and you die. The worst thing you can do is fight against it. That only hastens the sinking.
Unless you are Lash LaRue, who had his bull whip with him at all times, you definitely have to have help to get out. Lash could use his whip to wrap it around a tree trunk or rock or something handy and pull himself out. The rest of us mortals need a helping hand.
On the world stage, for the past 150 years or more, America has stood as the shining city on a hill the rest of the world has envied. America has been willing to step in an help a country or region in trouble. We have sent missionaries around the globe not only to spread the gospel but to help people raise their standard of living. In 2023, there are people still sleeping on dirt floors in unhygienic settings.
After all this time, we can say we saved France. If America had not entered WWII, the choice in French wines today would be either a dark or pale lager and caviar would have been replaced with Bratwerst. We helped other nations with varying degrees of success. It seems the more our politicians got involved, the worse the outcome. It seems the same can be said for America itself and our internal workings.
I don’t speak politically here, our situation is not the cause of either party or independents but can be laid at the feet of every citizen who has allowed us to get in the shape we are in. America is in decline and the structural rot is all around us. And it is caused by bad leadership, corrupt politicians and lazy citizens. From the New York Times to Forbes to The Brookings Institute to The Economist and Washington Post are all sensing America’s downfall. We are seeing a society crumble around us all the while making wrong decisions about almost everything as a nation. We owe a debt larger that almost all the rest of the world combined.
There can be no doubt to even the casual student of prophecy that we are living in the last days of this earth. No, we aren’t running out of oil, as Rockefeller spewed in 1892 to further drive the price of his crude oil up and make him wealthier. At Samford University, I had a professor named Al Garner. He was one of the wisest men I ever sat under. He made this statement in class one day, “Until you find the economic reason, you haven’t found the reason”, The older I get, the more true l find that statement to be.
We live in a time that seems like the truth is hiding from us and we have to search it out. We are long past Ty he time we could believe any politician. Our news media has made a mockery of themselves. No longer can organizations like the DOJ, the IRS, FBI, AFT and even the military leaders be trusted. Coruption abounds on every front and it seems every move government makes puts strain and expense on the average true American. This is true at the Federal, State and Local governments alike. Remember when law enforcement was seen as the good guys and they looked at the public a the people they were to protect. Those days are long gone for the most part.
Our political leaders are using the courts and he legal system to attack their opponents. This is true of both parties. This shouldn’t be so in America. We have become a 3rd world banana republic in the making and daily it gets worse. So, if all this is going and we are in th end times as prophesied in the Bible, what does God say about America? The short answer is, God says absolutely nothing about America except in one passage. In Zechariah we find sort of a reference to America. “And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. In that day,” says the Lord, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.” Zechariah 12:3-4 NKJV
All the nations include America if we still exist. There are lots of reasons to think we we may not and that end could come soon from a variety of sources. That is the closest we have of America mentioned in the Scriptures. The culmination of this promise will be evident when all nations come against Jerusalem. ”“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”” Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV. Then the nations of the world will find out exactly what that covenant promise means.
The future for America looks bleak at best. A nation cannot snub God and continue to be blessed. Other than Israel, America has been the most blessed nation in the history of the world. But success and prosperity has move our nation’s eyes onto self as our God. As a nation, we now rely on government for many of the things we were brought up to rely on God for such as wisdom, welfare, sustenance, protection. We have turned from God to the printing press to cover our “good will” and have moved from a benevolent people to a corrupt, greedy nation. We have turned from a nation of hard working, caring individuals to a nation of lawlessness and victims. America is trying to tax and print its way to prosperity. That’s like standing in a bucket and trying to lift your way up by lifting the handle. Prosperity and greed has killed America.
The corruption at all levels of government is astounding. It has been rumored that there are merger talks between C-Span and QVC. This would allow you to purchase a politician or government official in the privacy of your own home. The definition of an honest politician is now “once he is bought, he stays bought”. Sadly, there are few honest politicians even with this definition.
We are living in a Romans 1:18-32 nation and world. It seems to me that not only have we removed God from most places,, including many churches. We have turned our schools into far left, anti-God indoctrination centers. We now allow, condone and promote child abuse by perverts and the deceived in the most horrific means from sex trafficking to gender mutilation. When a mother tells her son that his penis is a birth defect while painting his nail and we consider that acceptable, we as a nation have gone off the deep end. “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1:28-32 NKJV
I believe that as a nation, we have arrive at this point. Not All the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah were homosexuals, but God spared Lot, his wife and their daughters. Lot’s wife’s reprieve was merely temporary, as her heart never left. Then God destroyed this entire area and ALL the inhabitants, some were flaming homosexuals, the rest condoned it and allowed it to prevail. For this cause, God judges them just as guilty as the participants. This is where we have come as a nation. Our leaders proudly fly the Gay Pride flag along side or even above the flag of the United States. God is not amused. No longer are we a blessed nation as we were 75 years ago. And God’s judgement is being poured out more and more. But you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better. We are in the quicksand flailing away trying to get out.
As a nation, we need a helper. We need someone to throw us a rope and help pull us out of the mire we are in. We should be able to rely on our pastors to promote God’s word and will to a nation an we as a nation were humble enough to receive that instruction and proclamation. Today, we have so few pastors that have liberalized the Word of God and we have a people who are seeking people that will tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. And there are plenty of pastors that do just that. I pity those pastors. I pity those people. Their future makes what happened to Lot’s wife seem like a Sunday School picnic. Paul told Timothy what this generation would look like. “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.” II Timothy 3:1-9 NKJV. When compared to the description from Romans 1 we saw earlier, we see lots of similarities.
There is only one hope for this generation mired down in their own self importance, indulgence and pride. The answer is the same message John the Baptist was preaching to the Israelites. Now John didn’t have a new Escalade to ride around in, he didn’t have a Gulfstream to fly around the world, he had no high dollar TV studio and closet full of $5000 suits, he simply lived off what God provided in the way of transportation, food and clothing. He had a simple message, “The Messiah is coming! REPENT!”. And that is still the message today. Repent. Jesus is coming. If you aren’t ready, you need to get ready. All that money you have stockpiled will do you no good, that big house will not protect you, that big fine vehicle can’t carry you far enough to get out of the way. It’s time to get humble before God. Above all, Repent. He who says he doesn’t need to Repent is an exact likeness of the stiff necked Pharisees Jesus threw out of the temple. If we, as a nation, get humble and Repent, we can ask God to help us get out of the quagmire. But He won’t help a stiff necked people. We must humble our selves, turn from our wicked ways, pray like we have never prayed befor and seek the very face of God, then we are at the point we can begin to ask God for help. How does a nation do this? It starts with one person, then another and so on. Can it begin with you?
America needs you and me. We are sinking in the quicksand of depravity and lawlessness. We must have help getting out of it. Only God can do it, but it may be too late. It starts with us humbling ourselves before the Almighty God. If you com to Him humbly, repenting, youu will be amazed at what God can and will do for you. One transformed life is all God needs. I bow my head in humility. I seek His guidance to go forward. Won’t you come with me?
Father, I bow before you as you servant coming to seek your direction. I repent of my sins which include pride reliance on anything other than you. I thank you for all the blessings you give me. The blessing of sharing your word with other, the blessings of writing these articles, the blessings of teaching and the blessing of learning more about You anYour Word. I thank you for our daily sustenance, the health provisions and for being able to live one more day.
Father, i am concerned about America as well as the other nations of the world. I ask you to send Jesus for His bride that He may take us to your house. Should yo tarry, lead to those that need to hear the Gospel that they might be saved before The Tribulation begins. May your will be done here as you would like it to be done. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your kingdom.
