Thanksgiving in St. Louis, 2016

God is calling the believers to step up. God is calling, who will answer?

Matthew 25: 32 “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:”
33 “And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.”
34 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:”
35 “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:”
36 “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”
37 “Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?” 38 “When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?”
39 “Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?”
40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
41 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”
42 “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:”
43 “I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.”
44 “Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?”
45 “Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.”
46 “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

Thanksgiving is a day set aside to be thankful to God for His many blessings and to thank our neighbors and friends for all they have done. I have many many things to be thankful for that have happened in the last year. God has worked so many miracles in our lives they are too numerous to count. Our friends have helped in a big way in a real time of need.

New Life Evangelistic Center was formed in 1972. Since that time, they have been feeding, clothing and housing the homeless as well as ministering to many of their other needs, both physical and spiritual. To many, NELC is considered ‘home’ as much as any place can be considered that. Their concentration has been on single mothers, children and veterans, though many of the homeless are not in any of these groups. I know of no one that has been turned down for a meal or clothes at NELC. They had daily meals for these homeless. Some days it wasn’t a whole lot, but it was something and was given freely to these folks as long as it lasted.

Each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas, they have a fabulous meal for the homeles. Several hundred people are fed and nearly 100 volunteers are there to wait and serve the homeless. They are also given a gift like socks, or gloves or maybe a watch cap or othter article of clothing that may help them face the cold weather. This has been a solid rock in the tumultous lives of these homeless. This has been something they could count on.

A few years ago, when Highway 40/61 was shut down for 2 years for renovation, widening and overpass replacement, there were some well to do individuals, mostly lawyers, who are well connected to the government of St. Lous decided that in order to not have to fight the traffic every day, it would be beneficial to have an apartment in St. Louis and only go ‘home’ to there homes in Lincoln Co. on weekends and holidays. And I think htat is a wonderful idea. The chose the area where these homeless ‘reside’, congregate and where NELC is located. After getting in, they decided they didn’t want the homeless around anymore so they petitioned the liberal lap dog government of St. Louis to get rid of the homeless and that is where the situation turned sour for these people of need.

A lion or tiger or other natural hunter will always prey on the weakest. The reason is obvious, it is easiest to do. That is the way our liberal politicians are. They prey on the weak to suit their own need. They line their pockets with the lucre derived from the needy. The weak don’t fight back so hard. Maybe we need to fight for them.

Several years ago, the city of St. Louis stopped all ministries and charities that were coming into the city and bringing food to feed homeless and destitute people. It was a great ministry for many churches, but the City Government did not want them being fed. That was the beginning of the assault on the homeless. In St. Louis, the liberals are assaulting the homeless instead of feeding and clothing and housing them. Something tells me that if these same folks told the city fathers ‘No Habla’, they would get a place to live, free food, free medical and a monthly stipend.

St. Louis has been fighting NELC for 2 years on this.. and has finally issued an order to close the doors immediately. Do not house the homeless, do not feed any meals, do not have Thanksgiving or Christmas, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Apparently they are going to let them do Thanksgiving, but none of the other meals between now and then. This is a fiasco of the rich using the government to line their pockets.

Remember, these are the folks of the ‘liberal’ persuasion that are doing this. They holler about everyone’s rights, the rights of illegals, refugees but they never holler about the rights of America’s homeless, of our veterans, our children. So, St. Louis is turning these folks out with nowhere to go, nowhere to turn, nothing to eat, no shelter. These people don’t care as long as these folks get out of ‘their’ neighborhood… the same neighborhood NELC has been feeding the homeless in for over 40 years.

NELC in many circles is a national lanmark in St. Louis. Many many folks outside of St. Louis know of the work of Rev. Rice and his staff, but few know of the plight as this order was just given last Friday, Nov. 4th, 2016. So, now, the fat cats of St. Louis will get to stuff their gullets with finery whilst the homeless of St. Louis starve.

I have scanned a letter from NELC that I received today. I am publishing it on my BLOG without permission, but I think Rev. Rice would see this as intending to let people know of the plight and possibly alert some to step in and help.

May God be with Rev. Rice and his staff, God bless the homeless in a special way and may God open the eyes and the hearts of these people who are commiting this atrocity against these people of need.

May God bless you for reading this BLOG.

I pray God move on the many believers to step in and perform that which is God’s will.
