Pool Party Anyone?

Mark 6:7 And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no money, no bread, no money in their purse:

9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

10 And he said to them, In what place soever you enter into an house, there abide till you depart from that place.

11 And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent. 13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

In a day when we find the nation going down the tubes because of Godlessness, we find the Church once again sitting on the sidelines, acting like nothing is going on. We have been tasked with taking Christ to the unsaved. Well, that is just fine if you are talking about giving a few dollars to send a missionary half way around the world to speak to people we will never actually see or have to associate with, but pray tell we go to the neighborhoods within walking distance of our church and Preach and Teach Jesus Christ. That would require more than far too many are willing to give.

Christ sent the 12 and later the 70 disciples out to be is witnesses. They weren’t sent to organize a Vacation Bible School, a 5th Sunday Singing, a Homecoming with dinner on the grounds, a cookout or a pool party. They were sent to preach and teach Jesus Christ. He gave them the power over unclean spirits. As a Christian, you have that same power living within you. You can heal the sick make the lame walk, restore sight to the blind, even raise the dead… if you will exercise the Faith God has given you.

We must go to the lost and tell them about Jesus. We must tell them to Repent, Acknowledge, Confess and be born again. Not only is it our duty, we are commanded to do just that. This and other events similar, are ORGANIZED efforts. They are focused on the task at hand, not ad hoc, catch as catch can, but intentional witnessing programs.

Matt 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Matt 9:37 Then said he to his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;

9:38 Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

10:1 And when he had called to him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

When Jesus saw the multitudes, he had compassion. Does your church show this compassion for the lost? Do you? If your church does not have a program to share Christ, you can do it on your own. I recommend having a partner for several reasons, but mainly that is how the model is presented to us. Two by Two. Remember, it is not important they know about your Church, except in passing, but it is imperative they know about the Christ that sent you. If you don’t know how to do this, there are lots of online articles. I recommend the Roman Road as on this site.

Roman Road at FaithStudies

Campus Crusade, now CRU is excellent. Billy Graham has a wonderful pamphlet. The Navigators has a wonderful program. There are many and all are useful but the main thing about any of them is for the workers to be willing. Are you willing?

May the Lord of the Harvest have more than enough workers to reap all the crop. May we all become wheat and not tares.. This is a picture of the Great White Throne Judgment.

Matt 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

May you wind up in the barn and not the fire..

In Jesus’ name..
